MOSCOW/PARIS, Nov 7 (PRIME) -- The police of Monaco have charged Russian tycoon Dmitry Rybolovlev of corruption and released him with travel restrictions, Monaco-Matin reported Wednesday.
The newspaper earlier said the businessman was placed in custody along with top judicial officials of Monaco and spent the night in a police station.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for President Vladimir Putin, said that the Kremlin watches such situations closely to protect Russians’ legal interests, but presently has no information on circumstances of the charge.
Bank of Cyprus, in which Rybolovlev holds a 10% stake, declined to comment.
Le Monde reported earlier that the businessman was detained for questioning as part of investigation into corruption and influence peddling.
